My Visit to Sveta Part 1

For the holiday week of Christmas and New Years I took a trip to Russia to spend the holidays with Sveta. Because of weather and travel delays, we missed spending Christmas together. However, we had a wonderful time spending the rest of the Holiday week together.

One of the first things we did was have Sveta open her Christmas gifts. She had a stocking full of small gifts and several other gifts. I also enjoyed spoiling her and buying her a few gifts while I was visiting.

Sveta's city is Volgograd. It is a very old city. It is 50 miles long, north to south, situated on the western bank of the Volga River and has a population of 1,011,417 people. We spent a lot of time walking around the city and seeing some of the sights.

The city was made famous for its resistance and extensive damage during the Battle of Stalingrad during World War II.We went to see a memorial site for the stand the city did during World War II. This place was amazing. There where lots of carvings, statues, memorials for the soldiers and Russian people. I really enjoyed our visit to the memorial.
